Collage

Collage is Wochit’s latest video-editing feature that allows you to combine two assets in one frame, creating a layered and dynamic visual effect.

With Collage, you can switch between assets with a cutaway, paste a picture-in-picture and paste two images side-by-side to create a split screen either horizontally or vertically. Here’s how it works:

1. First, select an asset from your Lightbox and drag and drop it into the timeline editor. This is a primary asset. 
2. Click on this primary asset in the timeline and select the Collage icon, which looks like this .
3. Next, choose another asset from your Lightbox and drag it over your primary asset on the timeline. Hover it over the primary asset for a few seconds until it snaps into place.
4. Now, click on the pencil icon  to begin editing with both assets in one frame. 
5. Choose between four different layouts: 

• Full Frame, which overlays the secondary asset over the primary asset while maintaining the primary asset’s audio
• Picture in Picture, which allows you to choose wide, vertical or square composition of the secondary asset
• Side by Side, which allows you to choose between 50:50, 30:70 and 70:30 composition
• Top Bottom, which allows you to choose the thickness of the split line

The entire frame can also be customized with a layout animation. 

1. Choose the Crop button above the frame, then click either asset to adjust the crop. Or, use the Swap button to make the primary asset and secondary asset switch places. 
2. Remember to click ‘Save’ when you’re done in order to keep and view all selected changes!

Timesaver Tip: You can also add an asset to the collage by dragging and holding it over the primary content. A white line will trace the perimeter of the content, and after 3 seconds you can drop it inside. If you drop the content earlier it will replace the primary asset.

Note-worthy Tips: 

1. When editing in the timeline, splitting the primary asset will also split the Collage.
2. Once Collage has been applied, all overlays will work on the entire clip, not simply the primary or secondary clip. 
3. You can add as many secondary assets as will fit over the primary asset given the duration of the clip. For example, if the primary asset is six seconds long, you may use two different three-second-long clips one after another with a Collage layout over that primary asset.
