Text Overlays: Overview

Our basic Text Overlays package makes it easy to add text on screen for a variety of uses and with precise customization. All you have to do is identify the text purpose you’re looking for, type in your text, follow a few customization instructions and — that’s it! Your asset is bolstered by rich copy. 

To add text to your video:

1. From the Timeline, click on the asset you want to add text to and click on the pencil icon.
2. Click on the Text icon in the header menu
3. From the drop down menu, select the overlay you want to use on this asset
4. Add your text to the input field on the left
5. As each overlay is made a little differently, the options available on the input field may vary. With the most common options being able to change the position of the overlay. 
6. The overlays we have available in the basic package are: Free Text, Callout, Quote, Multi Line, Listicle, Number, Word by Word, Title, Super and Credit. Your brand manager may work with your Wochit Video Strategist to customize these options.
7. Click Apply to generate a preview of the changes you’ve made.

A couple of notes on using text overlays:

• Overlays are created on a per aspect ratio basis, so if you’re working in 16×9 and then switch to 1×1 and realize you are missing some customization options, reach out to your Wochit Video Strategist about how we can help.
• Text based overlays can also be combined with effects, so the two are not mutually exclusive.
