Wochit, a video-creation and monetization startup for just about anyone, has inked a multi-year licensing deal with The Associated Press.
With the deal, Wochit’s clients now have access to AP’s library of news-video footage and still photos, which can be incorporated into videos created on the startup’s platform. The content will be available to all Wochit clients, the companies said.
“With the addition of AP’s licensed content, Wochit’s video creation platform now further empowers our clients to publish even higher quality video content within minutes of a breaking story,” says Dror Ginzberg, CEO of Wochit.
And that’s the major draw of a licensing arrangement with AP. Wochit champions its ability to help clients create high-quality videos within a few minutes. This is an especially attractive option for publishers and brands that want to keep up with stories and topics that are trending. AP’s breaking news content, now readily available via Wochit, will make it easier for the startup’s clients to be able to.
That said, the deal is also designed to help AP expand its reach to publishers and brands. “‘Ready to publish’ or ‘consumer ready’ videos are a weak point for any storyteller, including all the big agencies such as the AP, as it requires hours and hours of manual work creating them,” says Ginzberg. Wochit’s platform, which the AP now also has access to, can be used to turn any of the outlet’s raw footage into well-edited news videos, ready for distribution to publisher and brand partners on the web.
