Navigating the Wochit Media Library
There are several ways to search for media. When you first start a new video from scratch and enter the Studio Editor, you will see ‘Search Media’ options in your Lightbox on the upper left side of the screen. You can search for media in our Media Library, upload your own media, search through your uploads, or add a custom color card.
Disclaimer: Wochit does not own the rights to videos you upload yourself, whether that be from a third-party site or your own computer. By uploading a video or image to the system you take responsibility to use and credit as you see fit under fair use guidelines.
Editorial and Creative: Here you can access editorial videos and images, which are real-life, newsworthy footage, and creative stock images and b-roll, which are evergreen, commercial assets.
Instagram, Twitter and GIFS: Wochit has integrations with Instagram, Twitter and Tenor to provide a funnel of access to news feeds to popular social content. The content that comes out of these feeds is third-party and therefore not licensed by Wochit, and can be used under the premise of fair use guidelines.
Favorites: Save videos, images, social posts and gifs to the Favorites folder in the Media Library. Add to favorites by clicking on the star icon located on in the top left corner of a media asset. Favorites will be saved in the Favorites folder and will be shared with all production lines you have access to.
Selected Media: The Lightbox is where all the assets you’ve selected for your story are collected. You’ll notice it next to the Done button on the top right hand corner of the screen. The green number attached to the [director’s cut icon] indicates the number of assets collected so far from the Media Library.
My Uploads: My Uploads is where your own assets, and assets uploaded by your team, will be saved for use in any Wochit video on your production line. You can upload assets from your computer, or you can use My Uploads to add infographics to your video.
Favorites: To mark off an asset as a favorite, check off the star in the upper lefthand corner of an asset. The asset will then appear under the ‘Favorites’ tab in the Media Library, where it will be shared with your production line.
Story-Based Search:
If you’re creating a video to accompany an article you already published, the Story-based search option located on the top left hand side of the screen is a useful tool. Paste a URL and press Go! and Wochit will scan the story for relevant keywords. Wochit will then suggest assets from the Media Library based on the keywords. Additionally, you can simply paste plain text into the field, and Wochit will scan the copy for relevant keywords in the same way.
Story Based Search gives you a head start in finding videos, images, Tweets, Instagram posts and infographics that are relevant to your story. This is a great option when you are creating a video based off an article you’ve already written.
With the URL of the published story, we will scrap the story for the headline, story text and relevant keywords — all of which we use to search through our Media Library to find relevant assets for you to use.
Story Based search is available in the Media Gallery. To use it first, click Make A Wochit.
- From the Editor, click the pink plus icon to search the Media Gallery.
- Select the Story button on the left hand side of the screen.
- Enter the URL link to an article page, and click the search button.
The article’s headline, description and a list of search keywords will populate on the right sidebar. - Click Find Suggested Media to search for media assets from a curated media gallery based on the story text.
- Add the assets you would like to use to your Lightbox.
You can always return to the entire Wochit Media Library by clicking on the X next to the Suggested Media tag in the Search Bar - When you’ve chosen assets from the suggested pool, return to the video editor by clicking ‘Done’ in the upper right hand corner.
